Albemarle School Board Members & Superintendent Sworn In

Schoolboard20051222Three members of the Albemarle County School Board elected in November were sworn into office today by Circuit Court Clerk Shelby J. Marshall at the County Office Building.  In this photo, Diantha McKeel (Jack Jouett), Jon Stokes (Samuel Miller), and Pam Moynihan (Rio) can be seen taking their oath of office.  Their new four-year terms start on January 1, 2006.

In the background watch three members of the Board of Supervisors who were also sworn in to office.

Also, Dr. Pamela Ridge Moran was sworn in as the new Superintendent of Albemarle County Public Schools.  A copy of our press release on Dr. Moran's appointment can be found here.

Moran20051222On December 9th, after a five month national search, the Albemarle County School Board appointed Dr. Moran as our next Superintendent effective January 1, 2006. Dr. Moran will replace Dr. Kevin Castner who retires December 31, 2005.

Superintendent Criteria Survey Online

An online survey is available for the public and staff to provide the School Board with feedback about criteria to consider in the selection of our next Superintendent. All surveys are due by August 30.

Online Survey: http://schoolcenter.k12albemarle.org/education/components/form/default.php?sectionid=1822
As reported in a recent Albemarle School Connection newsletter, in addition to the survey, "the Board will hold a public hearing on August 11 in Room 241 of the County Office Building beginning at 6:30 p.m. should you wish to address the Board directly about the qualifications that you wish to see in our new superintendent. Another opportunity for public comment will be held on August 30 in Room 241 of the County Office Building beginning at 12 p.m. Sign-up sheets for the public hearings will be available 30 minutes prior to the start of the meeting."
